Apple has released a new firmware 3.0.1 for iPhone 3G, 3GS & 2G, do not confuse this with iPhone OS 3.1 which is still under development and beta 3 was release few days back. iPhone OS 3.0.1 has been release to fix SMS vulnerability which was discovered by Chris Miller and disclosed as at yesterday’s Black Hat cybersecurity conference in Las Vega.

Considering High Severity of SMS Vulnerability and it can allow attacker to gain control of whole iPhone it becomes mandatory to upgrade to OS 3.0.1. We are sure the next question which is in your mind, will upgrading to iPhone OS 3.0.1 will lose jailbreak and unlocked ?

Well indeed after you upgrade your iPhone 3G/3GS 3.0 to 3.0.1 you will lose your Jailbreak & Unlocked but there is no need to worry as you can still you iPhone Dev team’s tool Redsn0w 0.8 and ultrasn0w 0.9 to jailbreak and unlock iPhone OS 3.0.1.
